Cantina Royale to launch F2P, P2E Shooter Metaverse Game
(Originally posted on : Crypto News – iGaming.org )
As one of the first real-time, free-to-play (F2P), play-to-earn (P2E) shooter metaverse games on the market, Cantina Royale is the latest addition to the Elrond blockchain ecosystem and will push the boundaries of GameFi and Web3.
Elrond is a high-speed, eco-friendly blockchain, and the Cantina Royale team will utilize these advantages to their full capacities. Cantina Royale’s F2P model is playable as a traditional mobile — e.g., iOS and Android — and desktop game and has been designed to support the blockchain ethos of interoperability.
Cantina Royale ensures compatibility with Apple and Google store policies by using Verko’s payment and wallet management system. With this turnkey solution, users can purchase nonfungible tokens (NFTs) directly through Apple and Google in-app purchases without having to host on their devices. When a user wins a match, Verko’s game server distributes the rewards directly to their wallets.
A new Web3 F2P model
Cantina Royale introduces the first-ever P2E blockchain-gaming platform, free to play for all users. The F2P feature allows players to get in on the action without shelling out thousands of dollars to start playing.
F2P users can create an account with no wallet requirements, hidden fees or costs to jumpstart their adventures. They can access certain game modes to test their skills and climb the ranks against other F2P users.
Dan Bojan, game designer of Cantina Royale, said, “Cantina Royale strives to bring together traditional gamers and the latest technological advances in order to make NFT games accessible for everyone. We are proud to collaborate with Elrond and Verko to fulfill this purpose.”
Cantina Royale takes the form of a metaverse game featuring unique, fully-modeled characters compatible with third-party NFT collections. Owners of existing partner profile picture collections can enter the Cantina Royale metaverse and play with their favorite NFTs — a Bored Ape Yacht Club owner, for example, has a place in the game.
Cantina Royale raised $4.5 million in funding through a round led by Elrond and Mechanism Capital. Other investors include Crypto.com, Morningstar Ventures, Animoca Brands, Skynet EGLD Capital, GBV Capital, Good Games Guild, Chingari and more. The funding will help the team continue development and begin building new and exciting features and game modes.
Lucian Todea, co-founder and chief operations officer of Elrond, said:
“The adoption model put forward by Cantina Royale has very high chances of breaking through the relatively narrow blockchain-gaming space and reach global audiences, offering millions of gamers with exciting entertainment experiences and zero added friction from the crypto side of things, thanks to the seamless integration of Elrond’s internet-scale blockchain technology.”
Andrew Kang, co-founder of Mechanism Capital, said:
“As P2E has barely penetrated the gaming market, this will change in the next few years with mobile leading the way.”
