Blockchain to Map Cannabis Legitimacy

A California cannabis nursery is utilizing blockchain and smart contracts to secure the legitimacy of its medical plants.

EMTRI programs and software business Global Compliance Applications established a collaboration with cannabis nursery Mendocino Clone Company on January 13.

It will leverage the project’s blockchain capabilities to provide a batch certificate to each clone or seedling.

Cannabis nurseries are plant genetics enterprises that produce clones, seedlings, and seeds for wholesale sales.

The move, according to the business, allows nurseries to chart the early phases of a cannabis plant’s transition into a premium consumer product using the gram weight of cannabis blossoming.

With the use of blockchain smart contracts, clones will verify their legitimacy and genetic ancestry.
