Gigamesh, a co-founder of Sound.xyz, and Ben Jones, a co-founder of the Ethereum scaling solution Optimism, work together to create a vivacious tribute to Buterin. The song “V Buterin“ is inspired by the legendary dance classic “Rasputin” by Boney M from 1978. The song offers a distinctive synthesis of cryptocurrency and music and is accessible as a free-to-mint NFT on Sound.xyz’s Web3 audio platform.

The song opens by telling the story of a talented man who was born in Russia and subsequently dropped out of school with a 4.0 GPA. It keeps track of Buterin’s quick ascent in creating the Ethereum network and winning the respect of the cryptocurrency world. The original “Rasputin” chorus has been modified to refer to Buterin as “Ain’t no Charles Hoskinson” rather than the Russian Queen’s lover.

But why make a song like that? Recently, Sound.xyz announced its extension to include Optimism compatibility, with the goal of lowering prices for musicians who sell songs on the blockchain while enabling direct fan money generating. To commemorate this occasion, “V Buterin” was jointly produced by the project’s creators and released just on the Optimism network via Sound.xyz. Over 27,000 free NFTs have already been issued on the track, and more are expected to be issued through June 19.
