Renowned crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe, with a follower base exceeding 690,000 on X, offered his followers an in-depth look into Bitcoin‘s potential trajectory, sparking discussions on its future value. Van de Poppe’s analysis delves into the infusion of institutional money into the cryptocurrency market, a development he describes as unprecedented. While acknowledging uncertainty, Van de Poppe speculates that Bitcoin’s price could peak anywhere between $250,000 to $600,000 in the current cycle. “It’s the institutional cycle,” he notes, highlighting the significant impact this could have on the market’s dynamics.
Van de Poppe’s emphasizes the role of diminishing returns in shaping expectations for Bitcoin’s peak value in the current cycle. “Diminishing returns… could also give 1,900% as a potential return, equalling a peak of $300,000,” he suggests, challenging the pessimism surrounding the concept. He further questions the validity of diminishing returns, especially in light of technological stocks’ performance post-2008, drawing a parallel to Bitcoin’s potential for attracting substantial investment.
Discussing the influence of the Spot Bitcoin ETF’s approval, Van de Poppe underscores its importance: “The Spot Bitcoin ETF… has recently been approved, has a magnitude of an impact on the markets, which is not priced in. By a mile.” This development, according to him, paves the way for an unprecedented bull cycle, driven by institutional investors’ adoption of Bitcoin as a hedge against the US dollar.
Van de Poppe concludes his analysis with a bold speculation on Bitcoin’s future value. “It could be that we’re going to peak at $250,000 or at $600,000. I don’t know. Most presumably… expect the markets to go way higher than you think right now, as that’s always how markets move.”
