Major hardware cryptocurrency wallet firm Trezor is tackling the usability problem in crypto with a new onboarding service and an advanced hardware wallet. The company recently unveiled these initiatives, aiming to enhance user experience and security in the crypto world.
Introducing Trezor Expert
Trezor has launched Trezor Expert, a personalized one-on-one onboarding service designed to assist users with their self-custody journey. The service costs $99 and is available for purchase on the official Trezor website.
“Trezor Expert not only helps our customers to set up their hardware wallets correctly, it gives them the opportunity to explore the security considerations of self-custody in more detail as they cover topics such as private key management and safe online practices,” said Trezor CEO Matej Zak at the BTC Prague 2024 event in Czechia.
The usability of self-custodial wallets is crucial for growth, alongside privacy and security. Unlike custodial wallets, which entrust access to entities like Coinbase, self-custodial wallets give users full control over their crypto assets.
Zak shared that Trezor had been considering this service for three years, finally launching it after gaining the necessary internal capacity and energy.

Launch of Trezor Safe 5
Trezor also announced the release of its new hardware wallet, the Trezor Safe 5, featuring advanced security and usability improvements. This wallet includes an EAL 6+ certified secure element, a color touchscreen, and a Trezor Touch haptic engine.
The Trezor Safe 5 introduces a new recovery seed backup process with 20 words, an upgrade from the standard 12 or 24 words. This process enhances security by using a multi-share Shamir backup, providing secure options for accessing the wallet in case of private key loss.
The Trezor Safe 5 joins the Trezor Safe product family, which includes the Trezor Model One, Trezor Model T, and Trezor Safe 3. Each model caters to different user needs, maintaining the integrity of Trezor’s product line since the company’s inception in 2013.
Trezor Safe 5 is touted as the ultimate hardware wallet for users seeking the highest level of security and effortless usability. It is available for preorder at a retail price of $169.
