Changpeng Zhao Set for First Public Appearance Since Binance Exit at Dubai Event

Former Binance CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao is set to make his first public appearance after stepping down from his role. Zhao will attend Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai, a major Web3 event slated for October 30-31, 2024.

Zhao’s First Appearance Post-Resignation

Zhao’s participation has sparked significant interest within the crypto community. In a personal capacity, Zhao announced his attendance via an Oct. 10 X post, marking his return to the public eye. Tron founder Justin Sun and other prominent figures have already expressed excitement about what Zhao might reveal.

This will be Zhao’s first engagement since pleading guilty to violating U.S. anti-money laundering regulations and paying a $50 million fine. His company, Binance, was fined $4.3 billion, one of the largest corporate settlements in U.S. history. As part of the agreement, Zhao resigned as Binance CEO, served four months in prison, and was banned from managing the company for life. Despite this, he retains a 90% ownership stake in Binance, securing his position as one of the wealthiest figures in crypto with a net worth estimated at $61 billion.

Held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, Binance Blockchain Week 2024 promises to be one of the most anticipated Web3 events of the year. The theme, “Momentum,” highlights the ongoing progress in the crypto industry, focusing on its future challenges and opportunities. The event will offer workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions that explore blockchain tools and platforms while debating how the industry can maintain its decentralized nature amid evolving regulations.

In addition to Zhao, the event will feature several prominent speakers, including Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, Nansen CEO Alex Svanevik, Dubai Future Foundation CEO Khalfan Belhoul, and Sotheby’s Vice President of Digital Art Michael Bouhanna.
