Inspired by popular loyalty programs like Costco and Amazon Prime, Robinhood has revealed intentions to grow its subscription business. The financial services industry presents a substantial development opportunity for the company, allowing it to offer a wider range of services, according to CEO Vlad Tenev.
Additional services including wealth management, tax advice, and digital asset services will be incorporated into the new approach. Tenev thinks this strategy will boost the platform’s attractiveness and improve customer retention.
“If the portfolio offers a suite of products that investors see as valuable, more people will be willing to pay the subscription fee,” he said.
Wealth Management and Crypto on the Horizon
Robinhood’s Gold subscription, currently priced at $5 per month or $50 annually, provides members with benefits like a 4% interest on uninvested cash and access to expert market research. Now, with Robinhood Strategies, users will gain access to exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and curated stock selections.
Gold subscribers will face a 0.25% management fee, capped at $250. By expanding its service portfolio, Robinhood aims to offer an all-in-one financial platform.

“My philosophy behind it is subscriptions are about loyalty,” said Tenev. “If you’re a subscriber to something, then that service is sort of the first in mind when you think about trying something else from that category.”
The subscription model’s goal is to deepen user engagement by delivering consistent value. Just as Amazon Prime and Costco maintain loyal customers with attractive perks, Robinhood aims to create a financial ecosystem that keeps users coming back.
The move comes as Robinhood continues to grow its presence in the digital asset space. By incorporating crypto services into its subscription offerings, the company strengthens its appeal to both traditional investors and crypto enthusiasts.
With its evolving loyalty-driven model, Robinhood is well-positioned to capture a larger market share while offering a more comprehensive financial experience for its users.
