Key Takeaways
- The connection offers real-time quotes, charts, and access to order entry.
- Potential data uses extend to investor sentiment and emerging narratives.
- Five initial U.S. partners span crypto exchanges and traditional brokerages.
Webull Connects X’s Crypto Conversations With Trading
Investors discussing stocks and cryptocurrencies on X can reach Webull’s trading services through a partnership announced Oct. 2. The online investment platform (Nasdaq: BULL) joined as a Cashtag Partner for stocks and crypto trading. Cashtags are dollar-prefixed asset symbols, such as $BTC for bitcoin, that organize financial posts and provide access to price information.
Anthony Denier, Webull’s group president and U.S. CEO, said:
“The next generation of investing will be defined by how seamlessly technology connects information, intelligence, and action.”
The agreement also opens opportunities to use X data, including sentiment, discussion trends, market narratives, and Cashtag activity. Sentiment describes attitudes toward an asset, while market narratives are explanations circulating about its performance or prospects. These potential uses would complement the connection’s existing quotes, charts, and order ticket, the form used to enter a purchase or sale.
The partnership covers company shares and digital assets, which differ in how they represent ownership and value. Buying and selling crypto can occur through exchanges or other supported services. Cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin can also be held, transferred, and used for payments, rather than representing ownership in a business.
From Clickable Symbols to Brokerage Access
The current integration builds on a feature Twitter, now X, introduced in July 2012 to organize stock discussions. Interactive charts and brokerage connections followed years later, with the U.S. Cashtag Partner Program launching in September. Its purpose is to shorten the path between discovering an investment and reaching a service that handles orders.
The feature’s expansion follows an April 14 rollout that introduced interactive stock and crypto data for iPhone users in the United States and Canada. That launch included a Canadian trading integration with Wealthsimple, an online brokerage. The pilot established an earlier route from an asset’s price chart to a financial account.
That arrangement keeps the social network’s information tools separate from the financial services handling purchases and sales. Nikita Bier, then X’s head of product, clarified that transactions would be executed externally. Those firms, rather than the social network, execute transactions.
Kraken, Coinbase, and Brokerages Join the Roster
The initial U.S. partner roster comprised Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Coinbase, Gemini, and crypto exchange Kraken, which announced its participation Sept. 16. Its Cashtag trading connection takes users from an asset’s posts and price chart to Kraken’s app or website, where they log in or register before completing a transaction.
Monique Pintarelli, X’s head of global advertising, stated:
“Our Cashtag partners make it possible to move seamlessly from discovery and conversation to a brokerage, without breaking the moment.”
The latest addition brings an established international investment business into this network of participating financial services providers. Webull reports more than 28 million registered users globally and investment services in 18 markets across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
