Binance Labs Rebrands as YZi Labs, Broadening Its Focus

The $10 billion venture capital division of the biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, Binance, has changed dramatically. The revamped company, which is now known as YZi Labs, wants to stand out from the competition and expand beyond cryptocurrencies.

Expanding Beyond Blockchain

In an official statement, Binance announced the rebranding of Binance Labs to YZi Labs, marking a shift toward independence and diversified investments. The new name reflects the firm’s efforts to expand its focus to emerging sectors like Web3, artificial intelligence (AI), and biotechnology.

“Binance Labs has officially rebranded to YZi Labs, stepping away from the Binance brand to reflect its independent growth and expanded investment focus,” the company stated.

While continuing its commitment to Web3 innovation, YZi Labs plans to explore untapped opportunities in AI and biotechnology, aligning with its mission to drive innovation across various industries.

Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, Binance’s founder, will remain actively involved with YZi Labs in an advisory capacity. Although barred from returning to Binance leadership after his four-month sentence for violating U.S. anti-money laundering laws, Zhao will mentor project founders and shape the firm’s investment strategy.

Former Binance Labs head Ella Zhang has returned to lead YZi Labs. Zhang reaffirmed the firm’s mission: “Our mission remains the same: to empower visionary entrepreneurs and push technological boundaries across multiple sectors.”

Despite its rebranding and expanded scope, YZi Labs assures portfolio companies of continued support.

This move signifies Binance’s broader strategy to evolve alongside the rapidly changing technology landscape. By stepping into sectors like AI and biotechnology, YZi Labs is positioning itself as a leader in multi-industry innovation.
