ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood believes Bitcoin’s potential to reach $1.5 million is growing stronger. She attributes this to rising institutional interest in the digital asset.
Wood recently shared an update with investors, highlighting how major financial players are increasingly viewing Bitcoin as a necessary addition to their portfolios. She stated, “Many people know us for our bull case, $1.5 million. And we actually think the odds have gone up that our bull case will be the right number because of what is becoming the institutionalization of this new asset class.”
She emphasized that Bitcoin’s distinct return and risk profile makes it attractive compared to traditional assets. More institutional investors are now considering BTC as part of their long-term asset allocation.
Stablecoins See Unprecedented Transaction Volumes
Beyond Bitcoin, Wood also pointed out the rapid rise of stablecoin transactions. She revealed that last year’s stablecoin transaction value exceeded $15 trillion—surpassing Visa and Mastercard.
“I do think it is quite a surprise to learn that stablecoins in total, the transaction value of all of them is roughly, or was last year, $15 trillion. That was more than either Visa or Mastercard. And by the end of the year, the run rate was nearly double that, $30 trillion.”

She clarified that while Visa and Mastercard still dominate in the number of transactions, stablecoins are processing significantly larger transaction values. The growth of decentralized finance (DeFi) and the broader digital asset ecosystem is fueling this shift, reinforcing the long-term viability of blockchain-based financial systems.
Wood’s bullish outlook on Bitcoin and stablecoins underscores a shifting financial landscape where digital assets are becoming an essential part of institutional investment strategies.
