BlackRock Expands Ethereum Access in Brazil with New ETF Listing

BlackRock is set to broaden its cryptocurrency offerings in Brazil by listing its iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) on the country’s B3 exchange. The ETF, scheduled to start trading under the ticker code ETHA39, will be available as a Brazilian Depositary Receipt (BDR), allowing local investors to gain exposure to Ethereum without the need to directly purchase the digital asset.

Building on Success in Brazil

This move follows the successful introduction of BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) on the Brazilian stock exchange in March. The IBIT’s performance has highlighted Brazil as a growing market for institutional cryptocurrency products. Nicolas Gomez, BlackRock’s head of ETFs, index investments, and products for Latin America, emphasized the significance of this launch: “The launch of ETHA39 now allows investors to have access to the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.”

Brazil’s financial market is increasingly embracing digital assets, with the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) recently approving two Solana-based ETFs for listing on B3. This trend underscores the region’s rising demand for diverse cryptocurrency investment opportunities.

BlackRock’s Ethereum Trust has already made headlines in the United States, where it surpassed $1 billion in cumulative net inflows as of August. This achievement marks a significant milestone, making BlackRock the first of 11 issuers to reach this level of inflows. The success of ETHA in the U.S. market reflects growing investor interest in Ethereum as a key component of diversified digital asset portfolios.

As BlackRock continues to expand its cryptocurrency offerings, the listing of ETHA39 on B3 represents another step in providing broader access to leading digital assets, aligning with global trends in institutional crypto adoption.
