Grayscale Eyes DOGE, Worldcoin and More for Future Investments

Grayscale, one of the top crypto asset managers, recently announced plans to explore adding 35 new altcoins to its investment offerings. The potential additions include well-known tokens like Dogecoin and Worldcoin, along with projects such as Pyth and Rune. In a blog post published on October 10, Grayscale categorized these tokens into five groups: Currencies, smart contract platforms, financials, culture, and utilities.

Smart Contract Platforms Dominate

Most of the altcoins under review fall within the smart contract platforms category, which includes popular networks like Aptos, Sei, Celestia, and Mantle. Grayscale also revealed it is evaluating tokens from major blockchain projects like Arbitrum, Cosmos, Polygon, Toncoin, and Tron. Additionally, the company is looking at Solana-based projects such as Jupiter, Helium, and Pyth, highlighting its interest in diversifying its future investment options.

On the consumer and culture side, Grayscale is considering adding Dogecoin, the well-known memecoin, and Immutable, a gaming network. These would join existing tokens in this segment, including Basic Attention Token (BAT) and Decentraland (MANA).

Currently, Grayscale manages 30 investment products. These include 25 single and diversified crypto trusts, four exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and one dynamic income fund. The potential inclusion of new altcoins follows the company’s recent expansions, where it launched funds tied to Aave, XRP, and Avalanche.

In addition to these developments, Grayscale remains a dominant player in the crypto space, managing over $12 billion worth of Bitcoin through its Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC). Despite its ongoing growth, the firm has faced large sell-offs from investors since converting GBTC to an ETF in January. Similarly, the two spot Ether ETFs launched by Grayscale also experienced significant outflows.
