In her statement, she said, “I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected, and the broader community. I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and resolve this matter.”

The controversy erupted after Welch launched HAWK on December 4, 2024. The memecoin, based on the Solana (SOL) blockchain, lost 95% of its value within hours of its debut. This dramatic plunge led to allegations of a rug pull, a scam in which creators inflate a token’s value and then sell off their holdings, leaving investors with worthless assets.

Burwick Law, a firm based in New York, recently announced the filing of a federal lawsuit against Welch on behalf of HAWK investors. The firm stated, “This case involves claims related to investor protections under federal law and the HAWK TUAH memecoin HAWK launched on December 4, 2024.”

The lawsuit aims to provide restitution to affected investors and hold Welch accountable if wrongdoing is proven.

Welch’s viral fame as the “Hawk Tuah” girl added to the intrigue surrounding this case, drawing significant attention from both the crypto and social media worlds.
