The Stanford University statement reaffirmed their dedication to paying back the entire sum. The statement said, “We have been in discussions with attorneys for the FTX debtors to recover these gifts, and we will be returning the funds in their entirety.”
The majority of these funds were given by the FTX Foundation and companies connected to FTX with the intention of supporting initiatives for pandemic research and prevention.
It’s significant to remember that Stanford University has a long history with influential FTX leaders. Allan Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, the parents of Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), both hold legal studies degrees and have had prior ties to Stanford Law School. The fact that Sam Bankman-Fried was the previous CEO of FTX gives the current events an intriguing new dimension.
