Former US President Donald Trump reiterated in a speech his intention to make the US the center of the world’s cryptocurrency industry. At an event hosted by the Economic Club of New York, President Trump mentioned digital assets in passing and shared his ambition of turning America into the “world capital for crypto and Bitcoin” if he were to win a second term in office.
Even though it was brief, Trump’s remarks about cryptocurrencies reflected his larger economic agenda, which included proposals to reduce regulations and encourage the production of energy domestically.
A Focus on Future Industries
During his hour-long address, Trump emphasized embracing the industries of tomorrow, specifically highlighting his support for digital assets. He noted that, rather than stifling emerging sectors, the U.S. should foster innovation in areas like cryptocurrency. This move, according to Trump, would position America at the forefront of the global crypto landscape.
In addition to his vision for the U.S. as a crypto leader, Trump hinted at a potential role for himself in the crypto world. He referred to a forthcoming project connected to his family, World Liberty Finance, where he might take on the role of “chief crypto advocate.”
Trump’s speech largely revolved around his broader economic goals, including a promise to overhaul the U.S. regulatory landscape. “I’m pledging today that in my second term, we will eliminate a minimum of tenfold regulations for every one new regulation,” he stated. His goal is to liberate the economy from what he called “crippling regulation.”

Trump also promised to boost domestic energy generation in order to facilitate further advancements in technology. He underlined how vital energy is to the growth of industries like artificial intelligence and to maintaining American competitiveness in the face of nations like China.
In a playful moment, Trump brought up Elon Musk’s proposal to establish an efficiency council for the government. He jokingly suggested that the CEO of Twitter and Tesla might spearhead the effort to audit government spending, remarking that Musk was “not busy.”
