On Tuesday, Twitch streamer DNP3, who founded multiple crypto projects including The Goobers NFT, Gridcraft Network, and charity-focused cryptocurrency CluCoin, admitted to gambling away investor funds.
The founder tweeted that he had just become extremely addicted to gambling.
According to DNP3, his gambling addiction manifested as he started streaming.
[It]Started with a sponsored stream and unleashed an addiction I never knew I had.
DNP3 explained to his followers what had happened to him:
“Every dollar I could find I would put into Stake in hopes of winning big.
“Even when the big wins did happen it wasn’t enough. Eventually, I lost everything. In addition to my own life savings, I also irresponsibly used investor funds to try and ‘get my money back‘ from the casino which was wrong for so many reasons.”
It is unknown how much money was wasted. Following the disclosure, the price of CluCoin decreased by 63%, the market cap of The Goobers decreased by 9%. According to OpenSea, The Goobers has sold 968 ETH, or around $1.1 million.
DNP3 is also called the ‘Mr Beast’ or ‘Oprah’ of Twitch and Twitter, because of his large giveaways.
