Words With Friends Creator Zynga Enters Blockchain Gaming with Sugartown

Known for their successful titles FarmVille and Words With Friends, Zynga has moved into the world of blockchain with Sugartown. This game employs Ethereum’s NFT technology, marking a significant transition for the company.

In Sugartown, a trio of farm animals unveil a wormhole, introducing creatures called Oras. These Oras transform Sugartown into an exciting, game-filled universe. However, access to this universe will be web-browser exclusive and will launch sometime in the future.

To jump into the game, players will need one of the 10,000 Ora NFTs Zynga plans to unveil. These NFTs not only grant entry but also provide an array of free mini-games within Sugartown. Players can further harness their Ora NFTs by “staking” them to earn Sugar, a game-specific currency.

Zynga’s Vice President of Web3 Gaming, Matt Wolf, shared, “Our ambition is to empower players through a sustainable Web3 platform full of fun and enduring games.” He further emphasized, “We created Sugartown to appeal to a native Web3 market,” aiming for broader reach and hoping to nurture a committed community of enthusiasts.
