Worldcoin, a digital identification platform and cryptocurrency project, has partnered with Web3 infrastructure platform Alchemy to launch its new blockchain, World Chain. This collaboration aims to bring real-world utility to a global audience, with key focus areas including decentralized finance (DeFi) and digital identity.
World Chain
In April, Worldcoin announced the launch of World Chain, describing it as a blockchain designed for humans. Built on Optimism’s OP Stack, it integrates with Ethereum, Coinbase, and other networks in the Superchain. The platform’s proof of personhood technology is optimized for human verification, deterring bots and prioritizing authenticated users in terms of blockspace and gas allowance.
By focusing on verified users, World Chain aims to provide developers with the ability to reach millions of real people. This approach is intended to enhance everyday life by offering applications with real-world utility.
The partnership with Alchemy enables World Chain to scale effectively, targeting over 10 million users on World App. According to the announcement, World Chain developers will utilize Alchemy’s solutions, including data APIs, indexing tools, and account abstraction infrastructure, which are essential for the security of self-custodial wallets.
“We’re excited to partner with Worldcoin to deliver essential infrastructure and foster developer growth for World Chain,” said Noam Hurwitz, engineering lead at Alchemy. “With over six years of proven experience ensuring guaranteed uptime for major web2 and web3 enterprises, Alchemy is uniquely positioned to support the over 10M World App users at launch.”
