{"id":12449,"date":"2022-05-21T17:47:53","date_gmt":"2022-05-21T17:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crowdfundjunction.com\/blog\/meta-working-on-crypto-payments-platform-trademark-applications-show\/"},"modified":"2022-05-21T17:47:53","modified_gmt":"2022-05-21T17:47:53","slug":"meta-working-on-crypto-payments-platform-trademark-applications-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crowdfundjunction.com\/blog\/meta-working-on-crypto-payments-platform-trademark-applications-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta Working on Crypto Payments Platform, Trademark Applications Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>(Originally posted on : Crypto News &#8211; iGaming.org )<\/b><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Social media giant Facebook\u2019s parent company, Meta, looks set on launching a payments platform with support for cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Recent filings with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, or USPTO, on May 13, reveil Meta <a href=\"https:\/\/tsdr.uspto.gov\/#caseNumber=97409240&amp;caseType=SERIAL_NO&amp;searchType=statusSearch\">filed<\/a>\u00a0five applications for a platform called Meta Pay.<\/p>\n<p>The filings include Meta\u2019s name to be used in\u00a0<strong>\u201conline social networking service for investors allowing financial trades and exchange of digital currency, virtual currency, cryptocurrency, digital and blockchain assets, digitized assets, digital tokens, crypto tokens and utility tokens.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This March, Meta\u00a0submitted eight trademark applications\u00a0with the USPTO related to its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/crypto\/meta-loses-10-2-billion-on-its-metaverse-operations-in-2021\/\">Metaverse plans<\/a>\u00a0and use of blockchain technology.<\/p>\n<p>A month ago, an article in the Financial Times reported that Meta has\u00a0been <a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/crypto\/meta-reported-to-work-on-virtual-currencies-referred-to-as-zuck-bucks\/\">exploring virtual centralized currencies for its Metaverse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, CEO Mark Zuckerberg <a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/crypto\/mark-zuckerberg-kicks-off-instagrams-nft-integration-pilot\/\">announced that his company had\u00a0started a pilot testing digital collectibles on Instagram<\/a>.
