{"id":14008,"date":"2022-09-26T11:28:15","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T11:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crowdfundjunction.com\/blog\/tezos-activates-11th-network-upgrade\/"},"modified":"2022-09-26T11:28:15","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T11:28:15","slug":"tezos-activates-11th-network-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crowdfundjunction.com\/blog\/tezos-activates-11th-network-upgrade\/","title":{"rendered":"Tezos activates 11th network upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>(Originally posted on : CoinJournal: Latest Bitcoin, Ethereum &amp; Crypto News )<\/b><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Kathmandu has introduced several new features set to improve network scalability and security.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tezos, the layer 1 proof of stake blockchain designed to self-upgrade and evolve as it scales amid adoption, has successfully activated the latest protocol upgrade on the mainnet.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">On Friday, the 11th upgrade dubbed Kathmandu <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tezos\/status\/1573415873129463824\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">went live<\/a> on the Tezos PoS network at block 2,736,129, following a community adoption.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As noted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/agora.tezos.com\/period\/80\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">proposal<\/a> that ran from 9-23 September, the new upgrade comes after another named Jarkata went live on 28 June, 2022. The upgrade proposal was made by Tezos contributors and research firms Nomadic Labs, DaiLambda, Marigold, Oxhead Alpha, TriliTech, Tarides, and Functori &amp; Tweag.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Upgrade brings new features<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Kathmandu\u2019s activation keeps with Tezos\u2019s\u00a0regular schedule and as with previous protocol changes, this adds a number of features set to massively improve on scalability.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These include\u00a0smart contract optimistic rollups,\u00a0pipelined block validation that\u2019s set to improve transactional throughput, and\u00a0improved randomness for enhanced network security- this is achieved via verifiable delay functions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Other features added include\u00a0tailored governance via new permanent testnets that allow for more room for developers to experiment,\u00a0event logging and increased paid storage for smart contracts.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Tezos launched in mainnet in 2018, with the network going live following an initial coin offering in 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/tezos-upgrade-kathmandu-goes-live-on-mainnet\/\">Source link <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Originally posted on : CoinJournal: Latest Bitcoin, Ethereum &amp; Crypto News ) Kathmandu has introduced several new features set to improve network scalability and security.
