On Dec. 6, the Financial Times (FT) published documentation that shows Alameda\u2019s investment portfolio, which alleges the company spent more than $5 billion on hundreds of investments. Some of the funds went to odd investments like a fertility company called Ivy Natal and a drone manufacturer called Brinc Drones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Alameda Invested in Close to 500 Firms and Projects<\/h2>\n<p>During the last two years, FTX and Alameda Research spent billions on deals, sponsorships, and investments. At the end of January 2022, FTX looked colossal after it <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/ftx-raises-400-million-in-series-c-fundraise-firm-reaches-32-billion-valuation\/\">raised $400 million<\/a> from investors like Softbank Vision Fund 2, Tiger Global, Temasek, Paradigm, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/ontario-teachers-pension-fund-writes-down-entire-investment-in-bankrupt-crypto-exchange-ftx-citing-potential-fraud\/\">Ontario Teachers\u2019 Pension Plan Board<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After the Series C raise, FTX was valued at $32 billion and the former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) said FTX aimed to expand the firm\u2019s \u201cglobal reach.\u201d After the revelations concerning Alameda\u2019s balance sheet during the first week of November, FTX and SBF\u2019s quantitative trading firm <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/from-a-32-billion-valuation-to-financial-troubles-an-in-depth-look-at-the-rise-and-fall-of-ftx\/\">imploded<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, FTX\u2019s parent firm West Realm Shires Services, Alameda Research, and approximately 130 additional affiliated companies <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/troubled-crypto-exchange-ftx-files-for-chapter-11-bankruptcy-protection-ceo-steps-down\/\">filed<\/a> for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This week on Dec. 6, 2022, FT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/aaa4a42c-efcc-4c60-9dc6-ba6cccb599e6\">released documentation<\/a> tied to Alameda Research\u2019s investments, which were close to 500 investments that added up to roughly $5.4 billion.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_562998\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-562998\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-562998 size-full\" title=\"Drones, Fertility, and Defi \u2014 A Look at Alameda Research's Massive $5.4 Billion Portfolio of Investments\" src=\"https:\/\/static.news.bitcoin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/hhjjjkkkk.jpg\" alt=\"Drones, Fertility, and Defi \u2014 A Look at Alameda Research's Massive $5.4 Billion Portfolio of Investments\" width=\"1280\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.news.bitcoin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/hhjjjkkkk-300x70.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.news.bitcoin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/hhjjjkkkk-1024x240.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.news.bitcoin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/hhjjjkkkk-768x180.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.news.bitcoin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/hhjjjkkkk.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\"\/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-562998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Genesis Digital Assets and Anthropic received the most funding from Alameda Research.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In addition to FT, The Block\u2019s VP of research, Larry Cermak, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lawmaster\/status\/1600171286985965578?s=20&amp;t=DJM_14ua1oiqY7cFoQwqoQ\">exported<\/a> the entire list of Alameda-based investments into an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lawmaster\/status\/1600171292149153800?s=20&amp;t=DJM_14ua1oiqY7cFoQwqoQ\">excel sheet<\/a>. Cermak further noted that Alameda\u2019s largest investments include Genesis Digital Assets, Anthropic, Digital Assets DA AG, K5, and IEX.<\/p>\n<p>If the data is accurate, the documentation shows that Alameda invested a lot of money into blockchain projects and foundations, tokens, and non-fungible token (NFT) projects as well. This includes Hole Tokens, Polygon, Near, 1inch, Lido, Xterio, Aptos, and Yuga Labs. Polygon for instance received $50,000,000 from Maclaurin Investments Ltd., otherwise known as Alameda Ventures.<\/p>\n<p>Near gathered $50 million from FTX Ventures Ltd., and Maclaurin gave Near $30,000,000. FTX Ventures gave Yuga Labs roughly $50 million and Aptos scored $74.9 million from Clifton Bay Investments, also known as Alameda Research Ventures. The company invested in Paxos, Messari, Starkware, Circle, Fanatics, Magic Eden, and Sky Mavis (Axie Infinity). An Ohio-based produce and vertical farming firm called 80 Acres got $25 million and $11.5 million was funneled to a firm called Geniome.<\/p>\n<p>A whopping $500 million went to the artificial intelligence (AI) research firm Anthropic and $1.5 million went to a fertility venture called Ivy Natal.
