In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20230213005496\/en\/Interactive-Brokers-Launches-Cryptocurrency-Trading-in-Hong-Kong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a>, David Friedland \u2013 Head of Asia-Pacific at Interactive Brokers said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Investor demand for digital assets continues to grow in Hong Kong and we\u2019re pleased to introduce cryptocurrency to address the trading objectives of clients in this important market.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last month, Interactive Brokers <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/interactive-brokers-ibkr-stock-gains-142802773.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> record profit for its fourth financial quarter. Shares of the global brokerage are up more than 20% for the year at writing.<\/p>\n<h2>Hong Kong is committed to expanding in the crypto space<\/h2>\n<p>The announcement creates a unified platform for investors to trade cryptocurrency and a multitude of other assets, including stocks, futures, options, ETFs, bonds, mutual funds, and event contracts.<\/p>\n<p>They will no longer have to switch between different platforms and exchanges to overview the full breadth of their investment portfolio.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Eligible clients will benefit from our low costs and the ability to trade crypto alongside many other global products from a single unified platform.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The crypto news arrives only a month after the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong \u2013 Paul Chan <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/hong-kong-wants-to-become-crypto-hub-despite-industry-crisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the local government was open to collaborating with crypto and fintech startups this year.
