Famous actor Keanu Reeves says dismissing crypto or criticizing its volatility will only \u201cmake it better in terms of how it\u2019s safeguarded.\u201d The Matrix star added that the principle and ideas behind an independent currency are \u201camazing.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Keanu Reeves Praises Crypto<\/h2>\n

Famous actor Keanu Reeves talked about cryptocurrency in an interview with Wired, published Tuesday. The Matrix and John Wick star opined:<\/p>\n

I think the principle, the ideas behind an independent currency are amazing. These are amazing tools for exchanges and distribution of resources.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSo, to pooh-pooh crypto, or the volatility of cryptocurrency, it\u2019s only going to make it better in terms of how it\u2019s safeguarded,\u201d he added without providing further details.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood star previously revealed that he owned<\/a> cryptocurrency. \u201cA friend of mine bought some for me a while back,\u201d he said in December 2021, adding that he had not done anything with it.<\/p>\n

Reeves, NFTs, and the Metaverse<\/h2>\n

Reeves also explained how he became an adviser to the Futureverse Foundation, a charitable organization launched in June last year by Non-Fungible Labs, a New Zealand-based non-fungible token (NFT) and blockchain technology company. Besides supporting underrepresented artists, the foundation explained that it \u201cseeks to help keep the metaverse widely accessible, healthy, and evolving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reeves shared: \u201cIt\u2019s something my partner, Alexandra Grant, is really interested in, so I\u2019m kind of riding her coattails. I helped set up the launch.\u201d Both Reeves and Grant are advisers to the Futureverse Foundation. Reeves described:<\/p>\n

We\u2019re trying to take this technology that people are interested in and give opportunities to artists with different viewpoints.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Commenting on Meta Platforms, formerly Facebook, making the metaverse a priority, Reeves said: \u201cIt\u2019s like they\u2019ve created more land. There\u2019s more land for sale. It\u2019s wealth creation and it\u2019s opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Matrix star previously expressed<\/a> his skepticism about NFTs, stating that they are \u201ceasily produced.\u201d He was also skeptical of Facebook\u2019s metaverse. \u201cCan we just not have metaverse like be invented by Facebook? The concept of metaverse is like way older than that,\u201d he said<\/a> in December 2021.<\/p>\n
