The appchain is powered by the Cosmos SDK, and aims at broadening access and liquidity with the blockchain platform\u2019s ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Wormhole Foundation, which announced Gateway on Friday, said the appchain is \u201ccompatible and complementary to IBC.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Wormhole to connect 23 blockchains in Cosmos<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to details shared in a <a href=\"https:\/\/wormhole.com\/wormhole-gateway-the-gateway-to-the-cosmos-ecosystem\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">blog post<\/a>, Gateway allows Wormhole to connect 23+ blockchains, including Osmosis, Evmos and Neutron, across six runtimes to <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/cosmos\/\">Cosmos<\/a>. Security is key to the protocol given the impact of a February 2022 hack on the Wormhole bridge that saw a hacker 120,000 wETH worth $325 million. The exploit on the Solana-Ethereum bridge saw the <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/solana-price-drops-by-9-all-you-need-to-know-about-the-wormhole-bridge-hack\/\">price of SOL declined sharply<\/a> amid community reaction to the news.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As part of enhancing security across the Cosmos ecosystem, Wormhole introduced Governor, a module designed to limit cross-chain contagion in the event of a hack.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In June, Wormhole <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wormholecrypto\/status\/1680997071132950528\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">introduced<\/a> Automatic Relayers, a decentralised network of relayers that allows for cross-chain messaging that developers can tap into without having to develop, run or manage an off-chain component.
