The company, steered by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, a vocal supporter of bitcoin<\/a>, has accumulated over 158,000 bitcoins. This strategic move has now resulted in unrealized gains exceeding $1.1 billion, a significant milestone marking a 25% increase over their total investment.<\/p>\n

As bitcoin\u2019s price recently soared, crossing the $37,000 threshold for the first time since May 2022, MicroStrategy\u2019s bitcoin holdings reached an impressive value of $5.7 billion. This remarkable growth in value is a testament to the company\u2019s investment acumen and the rising appeal of bitcoin as an investment asset.<\/p>\n

MicroStrategy\u2019s journey to becoming the largest public holder of bitcoin involved channeling company funds and proceeds from bond sales into the cryptocurrency over three years. The company\u2019s total investment in bitcoin amounts to $4.6 billion, as per Bitcoin Treasuries data. This figure notably surpasses the investments of other institutional holders like bitcoin miner Marathon Digital. At the beginning of the year, the business had sold some of its bitcoin, however this was solely for tax purpose<\/a>s and not driven by loss of faith, Saylor said at the time.<\/p>\n
