{"id":24781,"date":"2023-11-28T19:23:10","date_gmt":"2023-11-28T19:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crowdfundjunction.com\/blog\/changpeng-zhao-resigns-from-binance-us-board\/"},"modified":"2023-11-28T19:23:10","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T19:23:10","slug":"changpeng-zhao-resigns-from-binance-us-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/crowdfundjunction.com\/blog\/changpeng-zhao-resigns-from-binance-us-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Changpeng Zhao resigns from Binance.US board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>(Originally posted on : CoinJournal: Latest Bitcoin, Ethereum &amp; Crypto News )<\/b><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"post-article-image  -mt-24  mb-8  lg:-mt-32  rounded  overflow-hidden\">\n<picture><source srcset=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagecache\/2023\/11\/binance-app-logo-with-us-flag-background-smartcrop-750x375.webp\" type=\"image\/webp\" media=\"(min-width: 750px)\"\/><source srcset=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagecache\/2023\/11\/binance-app-logo-with-us-flag-background-smartcrop-363x181.webp\" type=\"image\/webp\"\/><source srcset=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagecache\/2023\/11\/binance-app-logo-with-us-flag-background-smartcrop-750x375.jpg\" type=\"image\/jpeg\" media=\"(min-width: 750px)\"\/><source srcset=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/imagecache\/2023\/11\/binance-app-logo-with-us-flag-background-smartcrop-363x181.jpg\" type=\"image\/jpeg\"\/>\n<\/picture>                    <\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Changpeng Zhao has reportedly resigned from the Binance.US Board of Directors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The former Binance CEO has also relinquished his voting rights in the US affiliate and will not participate in any governance decisions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Binance.US has announced that Changpeng Zhao, who recently <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/binance-ceo-changpeng-zhao-to-resign-as-part-of-doj-settlement-report\/\">resigned as the CEO<\/a> of the global crypto exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/tag\/binance\/\">Binance<\/a>, has stepped down as Chairman of the Board of Directors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CZ has also transferred his voting rights and will no longer be involved in the US-based crypto platform\u2019s governance, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BinanceUS\/status\/1729530641526435859\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> posted on X on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs CZ transitions to life after Binance, he has decided to step down from his role as Chairman of our Board of Directors and transferred his voting rights through a proxy arrangement, whereby his interest in the company is purely economic and he will no longer be involved in our governance,\u201d the company said in the post.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The update by the Binance.US team also pointed out that while it may share the Binance brand and technology stack with the global company that agreed a $4.3 billion settlement with the US authorities, that\u2019s as far as it goes.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBinance.US is not a party to the settlements announced last week, nor do we have any outstanding enforcement matters with the DOJ, FinCEN, OFAC, or CFTC.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the statement, Binance.US is \u201cfully operational\u201d and will continue to serve its customers, offering the same products and services they did before the recent developments.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SEC sued Binance and Binance.US<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/sec-sues-binance-and-cz-for-breaking-us-securities-rules\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sued<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Binance, founder Changpeng Zhao and its US affiliate Binance.US in June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SEC\u2019s charges include allegations that Binance operates unregistered exchanges, broker-dealers and clearing agencies.
