He highlighted the <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/grayscale-win-against-sec-in-bitcoin-etf-case\/\">court\u2019s decision in the Grayscale vs. SEC case<\/a> as what pushed SEC Chair Gary Gensler to give the spot ETFs a nod.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c<em>You know, the sad reality of what we saw with the Bitcoin ETF is it was only because the courts forced the SEC\u2019s hand, and really chair Gensler\u2019s hand, that we saw that [approval] finally come to fruition<\/em>,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Ripple okay with XRP ETF<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Ripple chief believes that the eventual approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US is good for the crypto markets and the broader investment community. About what recent developments mean for a potential XRP ETF, and whether Ripple welcomes this, Garlinghouse said:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201c<em>We would certainly welcome it. And I think it\u2019s inevitable that there\u2019ll be, you know, multiple ETFs around different tokens. I think you\u2019ll even see ETFs potentially around baskets that also, I think further diversify that risk given there\u2019s so much excitement around the ETF dynamic here<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While he could not comment on whether Ripple had engaged BlackRock and other large ETF holders (most of these asset managers have submitted filings for Ethereum spot ETFs), the Ripple CEO did agree that the outlook for a potential approval for one makes sense for XRP community.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ripple won against the SEC last year on two separate occasions \u2013 when a <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/ripple-wins-sec-case-xrp-not-a-security\/\">US court declared XRP is not a security<\/a> and when the lawsuit against Garlinghouse and Ripple founder and Chairman Chris Larsen was \u201cdismissed with prejudice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Although <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/ripple\/\">XRP price<\/a> rose sharply around these victories, it remains well off its all-time highs.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Ripple exec says the headwinds that followed the SEC\u2019s lawsuit contributed to this.
