The attackers posted links to a deceptive airdrop, luring users to a counterfeit MicroStrategy website. This site prompted visitors to connect their wallets to claim the nonexistent MSTR tokens. Unbeknownst to the victims, agreeing to certain permissions allowed the cybercriminals to siphon off tokens from their wallets.<\/p>\n<p>As the situation stands, the scammer\u2019s wallet has accumulated $329,000 in Ethereum-based tokens.<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain investigator ZachXBT and the anti-scam tool Scam Sniffer have reported that the scam has already resulted in losses exceeding $440,000. A striking case involved an individual who lost over $420,000 to the scam, happening shortly after the initial malicious post appeared on the MicroStrategy X account. This incident occurred around 12:43 am UTC, demonstrating how quickly the attackers could exploit their scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The affected user\u2019s loss totaled $424,786 in various altcoins, with transactions traced back to the MicroStrategy scammer and partly to a second wallet linked to the infamous PinkDrainer hacking group.
