The restaking makes it possible for stakers to earn rewards for helping secure other ecosystem protocols.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">EigenLayer TVL soars to $10 billion<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to data from DeFiLlama, the protocol\u2019s TVL has increased sharply in the past month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">On February 5, 2024, the EigenLayer TVL stood at $2.15 billion, but as <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/tag\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum price<\/a> climbed above $3k over the month, that surged to above $7.6 billion by February 24 and $10.3 billion by March 4, 2024.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">ETH price also saw a decent spike over the month, rising more than 50% to highs of $3,500.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The platform has also seen a massive spike in ETH deposits, driven by increased activity around liquid restaking protocols. Per <a href=\"https:\/\/restaking.nethermind.io\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">market data<\/a>, February recorded the highest influx of deposited tokens, dwarfing December and August 2023.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fr-img-space-wrap\"><span class=\"fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib fr-draggable\" style=\"width: 615px\"><span class=\"fr-img-wrap\"><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.igms.io\/2024\/02\/04\/1709547599945-84702f75-1b22-43bb-8b9a-6f672a5661b8.png\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"fr-fic fr-dib\" width=\"650\" height=\"239\"\/><span class=\"fr-inner\">EigenLayer stats- deposited tokens monthly chart<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"fr-img-space-wrap2\">The spike now has EigenLayer third in top DeFi protocols by TVL behind lending platform Aave and liquid staking protocol Lido.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fr-img-space-wrap2\">EigenLayer attracts a16z backing<\/h2>\n<p class=\"fr-img-space-wrap2\">EigenLayer hit the market in June last year as it launched on the Ethereum mainnet, quickly becoming a top platform for restaking with liquid providers such as Lido and RocketPool.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Eigen Labs, the core development team supporting EigenLayer development, raised $50 million in a Series A round led by Blockchain Capital in March 2023. The round also attracted participation from other prominent investors, including Coinbase Ventures, Polychain Capital, Electric Capital and Ethereal Ventures.<\/p>\n<p>In February this year, Eigen Labs, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/a16z-invests-100-million-in-ethereum-protocol-eigenlayer\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><u>announced a $100 million raise<\/u><\/a> from venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).
