A fact well-known in the cryptocurrency community has now been confirmed by a court ruling. Indeed, Craig Wright\u2019s fraudulent claims should not have garnered such attention. However, as a news organization, we are obligated to cover this development, albeit briefly.<\/p>\n

A UK court has determined that Craig Wright, who claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, is not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper. This ruling ended the trial initiated by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) against Wright\u2019s attempts to assert intellectual property rights over Bitcoin\u2019s technology and to sue developers and other members of the cryptocurrency community.<\/p>\n

Judge James Mellor, presiding over the case, found the evidence against Wright\u2019s claims to be \u201coverwhelming.\u201d He announced that he would issue a detailed judgment, affirming that Wright was not involved in the creation of Bitcoin, nor did he author the initial versions of its software.<\/p>\n

COPA\u2019s lawsuit against Wright, filed in 2021, aimed to prevent him from filing lawsuits against developers or claiming ownership over Bitcoin\u2019s open-source technology. The alliance, supported by prominent figures and companies in the crypto industry such as Twitter\u2019s founder Jack Dorsey, Coinbase, and others, celebrated the court\u2019s decision as a victory for the open-source community and the truth.<\/p>\n

The judgment also affects other lawsuits filed by Wright, including cases against Coinbase and Dorsey\u2019s Block, related to his claims of database rights to the Bitcoin<\/a> blockchain. The court\u2019s ruling, confirming Wright is not the creator of Bitcoin, could affect these cases.<\/p>\n
