Transforming Validator Rewards<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The approved recommendation, known as the \u201cTimely Vote Credits\u201d tool, marks a significant shift in the way validators are incentivized for their role in the consensus process. This tool, endorsed with an overwhelming 98% support on April 9, seeks to revolutionize the mechanism through which validators are rewarded for their vital contributions to Solana\u2019s consensus protocol.<\/p>\n

Solana Labs elucidated that the proposal seeks to address a loophole exploited by validators, wherein delaying their votes to ensure alignment with the correct fork resulted in increased earnings. By introducing varying vote credits, with additional credits allocated for votes submitted with minimal latency, the proposal aims to discourage intentional delays in voting.<\/p>\n
