While its up 3% in the past 24 hours at $4.90 at the time of writing, its largely in negative territory after dumping from highs of $6.57 on April 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">World Chain \u2013 what do we know?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">World Chain will be an Ethereum Layer 2 and is expected to go live in the summer, Worldcoin, the project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, said in the blog post.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While the new blockchain will integrate with the Worldcoin protocol and World ID\u2019s Proof of Personhood, the goal is to ultimately have it run independently as a community-driven project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">World Chain will be an ecosystem of decentralized financial and identity apps focused on utility for everyday life<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,\u201d the Worldcoin team noted.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Introducing World Chain, a new blockchain designed for humans \u26aa\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qNb7S3vqut\">pic.twitter.com\/qNb7S3vqut<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Worldcoin (@worldcoin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/worldcoin\/status\/1780611997396095157?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 17, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the details in today\u2019s announcement, World Chain is \u201cengineered for scalability with the Superchain ecosystem.\u201d However, the new L2 will prioritize verified humans over bots when it comes to access to blockspace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The platform will also look to keep bots off the network by offering gas allowances to verified humans. This will not be accessible to automated systems such as bots deployed for airdrop farming that often congest networks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ETH will be the native token, although users will also be able to pay fees using Worldcoin\u2019s token WLD.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Worldcoin, which <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/worldcoin-to-reportedly-go-live-on-monday-as-ai-gold-rush-fuels-interest-in-altsignals\/\">launched in July 2023<\/a>, and offered WLD tokens to people who verified their identity by scanning irises via an orb. The project has seen over 10 million people create a World ID and use the World App, the project\u2019s native wallet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More than 5 million people have used the orb to verify their World ID.
