Rob Gronkowski, former NFL tight end for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has agreed to pay $1.9 million to settle claims against him by former customers of Voyager Digital, a cryptocurrency lender. The settlement, still pending court approval, forms part of a $2.4 million pool alongside NBA player Victor Oladipo and racecar driver Landon Cassill, according to a recent court filing.<\/p>\n

Gronkowski\u2019s Involvement with Voyager<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Gronkowski, widely known as \u201cGronk,\u201d became a brand ambassador and shareholder of Voyager, holding its VGX token, in September 2021. However, Voyager filed for bankruptcy in 2022, prompting legal action from a group of investors against Gronkowski and other promoters, including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. The settlement with Gronkowski, Oladipo, and Cassill marks progress in the ongoing lawsuit, with the claims against them set to be dismissed upon court approval.<\/p>\n

The filing said, \u201cPlaintiffs have now settled with Voyager promoters Cassill, Gronkowski, and Oladipo for millions of dollars in relief to the class leaving Co-Defendants Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks as the remaining Defendants for trial in November 2024.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Under the proposed settlement, Gronkowski will pay $1.9 million, Oladipo $500,000, and Cassill $25,000. The court filing comes just days before former NFL quarterback Tom Brady, Gronkowski\u2019s former teammate, participated in a comedic roast. Notably, the roast touched on Brady\u2019s past crypto endorsements, although it did not reference FTX, the defunct exchange he promoted. Comedian Kevin Hart and others humorously addressed Brady\u2019s crypto ventures, adding a lighter tone to the ongoing legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
