With places like Venezuela and the EU imposing legislation to ban Bitcoin mining, El Salvador\u2019s political stance was in stark contrast and a beacon of hope for the industry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>El Salvador\u2019s \u201cBitcoin-first culture\u201d<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/tag\/el-salvador\/\">El Salvador<\/a> became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. The country <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/el-salvador-becomes-first-country-to-approve-bitcoin-as-legal-tender\/\">adopted BTC as legal tender<\/a> in June, 2021, with the law becoming effective on September 7 that year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">President Nayib Bukele continues to champion the adoption of Bitcoin and has often provided updates on the country\u2019s BTC holdings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stacy Herbert, head of El Salvador\u2019s Bitcoin Office, noted that the \u201cBitcoin-first culture\u201d provides a conducive environment for crypto companies and entrepreneurs in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis decision by the OCEAN Mining team reaffirms that the Bitcoin-first culture we are building in El Salvador is providing the tools that entrepreneurs around the world need to thrive in a Bitcoin economy.
