Reports indicated the SEC\u2019s investigation started in March 2023. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, the regulator went on to approve the spot Ethereum ETFs in May this year, with the development pointing to a shift in the agency\u2019s outlook.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Today\u2019s news comes a few days after Consensys wrote to the SEC over this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On June 7, the company send a letter asking whether <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/sec-chair-says-s-1-approvals-for-spot-ether-etfs-in-the-summer\/\">approving spot Ether ETFs<\/a> meant that Ethereum is a commodity and that the agency would drop its investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A reaction across the market saw other altcoins pump alongside ETH.
