The 2-megawatt pilot project, located in the Satakunta region, was announced in a June 20 X post:\u00a0<em>\u201cIn Finland, we launched a 2-megawatt pilot project to warm a community of 11,000 residents with recycled heat from digital asset computing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This facility marks Marathon\u2019s first district heating-based pilot project in the Euro area.<\/p>\n<h2>Bitcoin Mining, A Renewable Heating Source?<\/h2>\n<p>With the use of an underground system of pipes, Marathon\u2019s new facility warms homes using a technique known as \u201cdistrict heating,\u201d which involves centrally heating water.
