However, a significant uptick in buying pressure has seen it surge past the resistance at $2,400 to reach intraday highs of $2,561 on Thursday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As of writing, Maker has a 24-hour trading volume of over $116 million, with this rising 47% in this period. Meanwhile, the market cap has increased 7% to over $2.3 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why is MKR price surging today?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While most of the altcoin market continues to battle downside pressure, Maker appears to have benefited from a new dose of optimism after a major announcement by MakerDAO on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That had to do with the official launch of the Endgame audit contest, a bug-finding contest that will see participants earn from a massive $1.35 million rewards pot. In the announcement, MakerDAO said the contest will be on blockchain security platform Sherlock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDeFi builders are invited to participate in the largest bug-finding contest in the space, with a total of 1,350,000 DAI in rewards,\u201d the Maker team said in a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MakerDAO\/status\/1805604184957296965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on X.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sherlock <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sherlockdefi\/status\/1805580157001871381\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">calls<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> this \u201cthe biggest audit contest ever\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to MakerDAO, the contest targets a community collaboration towards enhancing the blockchain platform\u2019s security for Endgame products ahead of Maker\u2019s Launch Season.
