Takes 2 mins.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Shares of the marketplace, logistics and payments service are up 30% for the day at writing but Fawne Jiang is convinced it\u2019s not done pleasing its shareholders just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Jumia stock is now trading at a year-to-date high.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"jumia-stock-has-upside-to-14\">Jumia stock has upside to $14<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"copy-link-to-section\" href=\"#\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"\/><br \/>\n<span class=\"tooltip\" data-text=\"Copy link to section\" data-conf=\"Copied!\">Copy link to section<\/span><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fawne Jiang assumed coverage of Jumia Technologies this morning with a \u201cbuy\u201d rating. His $14 price objective suggests a more than 25% upside on top of today\u2019s gain.<\/p>\n<p>The Benchmark analyst is bullish on JMIA shares as he sees the company as well positioned to benefit from the \u201cunmet pent-up demand\u201d in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Jumia stock does not, however, pay a dividend at writing which makes it unattractive for the income investors.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video inv-component-break-container is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jumia Seeks to Expand on Nigeria&#039;s E-Commerce Growth\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z0nqi865VG0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ecommerce-to-grow-rapidly-in-africa\">eCommerce to grow rapidly in Africa<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"copy-link-to-section\" href=\"#\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"\/><br \/>\n<span class=\"tooltip\" data-text=\"Copy link to section\" data-conf=\"Copied!\">Copy link to section<\/span><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Analyst Fawne Jiang expects a multi-decade eCommerce growth in Africa to be a meaningful tailwind for Jumia Technologies as it\u2019s the leading online marketplace in that region.<\/p>\n<p>The Benchmark expert forecasts eCommerce market in Africa to grow at a compound annualised rate of 20% through 2030. His research note also reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote inv-component-break-container is-layout-flow wp-block-quote inv-component-break-container-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>JMIA presents a unique investment opportunity with a highly attractive risk\/reward bolstered by both organic value creation and an asset recognition longer term.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jiang expects continued urbanization and mobile-internet expansion to deliver a material boost to Jumia stock as well. Note that shares of the Berlin-headquartered firm traded at a higher of $62 during the pandemic in 2021.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"jmia-lost-customers-in-its-fiscal-q1\">JMIA lost customers in its fiscal Q1<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"copy-link-to-section\" href=\"#\"><i class=\"fa fa-link\"\/><br \/>\n<span class=\"tooltip\" data-text=\"Copy link to section\" data-conf=\"Copied!\">Copy link to section<\/span><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Benchmark analyst Fawne Jiang recommends investing in Jumia Technologies as it\u2019s the \u201conly true pan-African eCommerce operator\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s logistics and payment services, he added, \u201cpromise monetisation optionality down the road and value creation beyond its status quo eCommerce play\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In early May, JMIA said it ended its first financial quarter with 1.9 million active customers \u2013 down about 5.0%. Still, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/05\/07\/jumia-is-back-growing-total-sales-and-orders-in-q1-2024\/?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJzQlupwvM7BPWzsfOSd6kdvTZ1weA7hC3zL0bAyg9r51mGnESSitoao9AT3YGKTf5J5n8YLA5OpCG-PZvhIA0_g2D8PYtijJJV0YQ9cgYxC_C1vcr5t94141SqCWu8ryWPp9iBUpSEBcnk7LfD_afDC9_YuBZGTJvWJVXT-VOJF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">its revenue jumped 19%<\/a> on a year-over-year basis to $48.9 million. Francis Dufay \u2013 the chief executive of Jumia Technologies said at the time:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote inv-component-break-container is-layout-flow wp-block-quote inv-component-break-container-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I am pleased with our progress to date and remain energized about Jumia\u2019s potential for the future. We have proven that with the right team and the right strategy, growth does not require heavy spending.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The New York listed firm also saw its gross merchandise volume increase by 5.0% to $181 million in Q1 while average order value popped some 3.0% versus the same quarter last year.
