Also featured on the agenda was the company\u2019s name \u2013 with shareholders passing the resolution to change the name from Bithumb Korea to Bithumb. Initially, the exchange went by BTC Korea.com.<\/p>\n<p>News of Bithumb\u2019s plans to go public in the US comes as a few other crypto companies, including <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/circle-enables-usdc-transfers-in-brazil-and-mexico\/\">Circle<\/a>, have recently revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/tag\/ipo\/\">IPO plans<\/a>. Crypto news provider Wu Blockchain also shared the potentially huge Bithumb move.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bithumb, South Korea&#8217;s second largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced at an extraordinary shareholders&#8217; meeting that it is considering listing on the Nasdaq in the United States, with the goal of listing in the second half of next year, with Samsung Securities as the main\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Wu Blockchain (@WuBlockchain) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WuBlockchain\/status\/1840683869982613773?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 30, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bithumb first moved towards the push to become a publicly-traded company in 2020. But with crypto regulatory hurdles and accounting standards unfavourable, the company gave up the KOSDAQ IPO plans.<\/p>\n<p>The exchange is still open to a domestic listing. However, it\u2019s also eyeing an overseas offering given the example of Coinbase.<\/p>\n<p>For its US IPO, the South Korea-based crypto exchange will work with Samsung Securities as the lead underwriter.
