According to Patronis, Florida\u2019s move to add crypto investments to the state\u2019s portfolio follows the understanding that crypto is here to stay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrypto\u2019s not going anywhere,\u201d Patronis told CNBC, adding \u201cWe\u2019d be a fool if we\u2019re not prepared to do everything we can to harness the opportunities there.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;Crypto&#8217;s not going anywhere&#8221; says Florida CFO <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JimmyPatronis?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JimmyPatronis<\/a> on his push to invest Florida state pension funds into crypto. &#8220;We&#8217;d be a fool if we&#8217;re not prepared to do everything we can to harness the opportunities there.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/c8Hldp3F8Z\">pic.twitter.com\/c8Hldp3F8Z<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Squawk Box (@SquawkCNBC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SquawkCNBC\/status\/1851991327052804439?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 31, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Crypto getting traction<\/h2>\n<p>As Florida looks to explore further opportunities with Bitcoin and the crypto market, Patronis believes the state\u2019s current exposure to the asset class will increase significantly if Donald Trump wins the upcoming election.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks come as the crypto industry views Trump as the pro-crypto candidate that will help advance the crypto industry in the United States. Like Trump, Patronis said Florida is against any form of central bank digital currency, or CBDC.<\/p>\n<p>Also important is the country\u2019s focus on getting ahead of China in the race to be the global leader of this market \u2013 which Patronis reiterated isn\u2019t \u201cemerging\u201d but is already here.<\/p>\n<p>Florida state pension fund\u2019s investment in crypto adds to a growing list of state funds adding BTC and crypto to their portfolio. Among state pension funds, the <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/state-of-wisconsin-investment-board-holds-nearly-100m-of-blackrocks-bitcoin-etf\/\">State of Wisconsin Investment Board<\/a> and Jersey City are the two latest entities to announce they hold crypto investments.
