Trump is expected to invite the two to Mar-a-Lago, Trump\u2019s Florida residence, this week following internal conflict over the role.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">President-elect Trump is having second thoughts about his options for Treasury Secretary and is expected to invite the top candidates to interview with him at Mar-a-Lago. Here are the latest updates. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0fHtpa82wN\">https:\/\/t.co\/0fHtpa82wN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The New York Times (@nytimes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nytimes\/status\/1858548284786122979?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 18, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump had been expected to pick either pro-crypto candidates Howard Lutnick, the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald or Scott Bessent, the founder of Key Square Capital Management, an investment firm, and a former money manager for George Soros.<\/p>\n<p>Up until yesterday morning, Polymarket, a prediction market platform, had put Bessent at an 87% chance of getting the job. A person familiar with the matter described the situation between Lutnick and Bessent as a \u201cknife fight\u201d with Lutnick as the \u201cprimary aggressor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/elon+musk\">Elon Musk<\/a>, CEO of Tesla, and an influential figure in Trump\u2019s inner circle, took to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1857819784865362211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X<\/a> to endorse Lutnick, adding that \u201cBessent is a business-as-usual choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusiness-as-usual is driving America bankrupt, so we need change one way or another,\u201d Musk said. Both Lutnick and Bessent are considerably more pro-crypto compared to Warsh and Rowan.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanrenewalbook.com\/money-matters-the-us-dollar-cryptocurrency-and-the-national-interest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">essay<\/a> for the American Enterprise Institute, Warsh advocated for an American central bank digital currency (<a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/CBDC\">CBDC<\/a>) despite concerns over consumer privacy.
