According to Srivastava, a colleague had solicited bribes from a customer \u201cunder the guise of providing consultative services,\u201d reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-11-28\/ex-binance-executive-brings-whistleblower-claim-alleging-bribery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Srivastava alleges that she was dismissed from her position at <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/binance\">Binance<\/a> a month after she told her managers about the bribery in April 2023. However, according to Binance\u2019s lawyer, Srivastava was dismissed due to \u201cpoor performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the lawyer said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to end her employment for poor performance pre-dated concerns she raised about an issue that was already known and under investigation by our internal audit team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Bloomberg, the colleague in question has since left the company. In a witness statement, Srivastava said that she \u201cwas not prepared to look the other way when someone had defrauded a customer and yet was still a part of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the latest lawsuit against Binance. Last June, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/sec-sues-binance-and-cz-for-breaking-us-securities-rules\/\">sued Binance for violating US securities laws<\/a> by offering services to high-valued US customers on its platform.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2023, the US Department of Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/us-wants-over-4b-from-binance-to-end-criminal-case-bloomberg\/\">sought more than $4 billion from Binance<\/a> \u2013 after Binance\u2019s former CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Changpeng+Zhao\">Changpeng Zhao<\/a> pleaded guilty to money laundering charges \u2013 to settle the criminal investigation against it.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the DOJ settlement, Zhao <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/binance-ceo-changpeng-zhao-to-resign-as-part-of-doj-settlement-report\/\">resigned from his position<\/a>.
