January 25, 2025<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Hill has championed several crypto bills, including legislation to regulate digital assets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Crypto-friendly French Hill will take over as Chair of the US House Financial Services Committee in next year\u2019s new Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Hill won the race on December 12 against representatives Andy Barr of Kentucky, Bill Huizenga of Michigan, and Frank Lucas of Oklahoma, all of whom are friendly toward crypto.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/hill.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=9401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> following his win, Hill said he was \u201chumbled\u201d to become the next Chair of the House Financial Services Committee.<\/p>\n<p>He added that he was looking forward to working \u201cwith <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/donald+trump\">President Trump<\/a> and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott to bring common-sense economic policies that will produce a new era of American prosperity shared by all our citizens across our land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hill will take over the position from the current Chair Patrick McHenry who is stepping down on January 25, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>McHenry <a href=\"https:\/\/financialservices.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=409421\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>: \u201cWith French Hill at the helm, Republicans will build on our work from this Congress to finally enact a clear regulatory framework and robust consumer protections for the digital asset ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Financial Services Committee is considered a powerful agency in the US, and with Hill leading the organization, he will work with Trump\u2019s administration on a range of issues, including crypto.<\/p>\n<p>Hill has <a href=\"https:\/\/hill.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=9315\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">championed a number of crypto bills<\/a>, including legislation to regulate digital assets, which passed the US House in May.<\/p>\n<p>Hill\u2019s appointment as the new Chair of the House Financial Services Committee follows the <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-selects-pro-crypto-paul-atkins-to-be-the-next-us-sec-chair\/\">nomination of Paul Atkins<\/a> as the incoming Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair.<\/p>\n<p>Current SEC Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/about\/sec-commissioners\/gary-gensler\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gary Gensler<\/a> is stepping down in January 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has also named David Sacks as the lead policy advisor on artificial intelligence and crypto, dubbing him the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-names-david-sacks-as-ai-and-crypto-czar\/\">White House AI and Crypto Czar<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-meta\">\n<hr class=\"mb-6\"\/>\n<h6
