For Ripple, this is even more personal after Gensler&#8217;s SEC effectively froze our business opportunities here at home for years. The optimism is obvious and very deserved.<\/p>\n<p>Today:<br \/>\u270575% of Ripple\u2019s open roles are now US-based, while\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brad Garlinghouse (@bgarlinghouse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bgarlinghouse\/status\/1875939452226564177?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 5, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cTeam Trump is already jumpstarting innovation and job growth in the US with <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/nyt-trump-reconsiders-pro-crypto-choices-for-treasury-secretary-slows-down-his-selection-process\/\">Scott Bessent<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-names-david-sacks-as-ai-and-crypto-czar\/\">David Sacks<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-selects-pro-crypto-paul-atkins-to-be-the-next-us-sec-chair\/\">Paul Atkins<\/a> and others at the helm, and they aren\u2019t even in office yet,\u201d Garlinghouse said. \u201cSay what you want, but the \u201cTrump effect\u201d is already making crypto great again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since Trump\u2019s win, XRP has risen more than 300%, according to data from CoinMarketCap. At the time of publishing, XRP is trading at around $2.40, up 1.92% in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<h2>Ripple vs. the SEC<\/h2>\n<p>For Garlinghouse, the Trump effect on the crypto market is personal after Gary Gensler\u2019s US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) prevented business opportunities for Ripple in America.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, the SEC sued Ripple, Christian Larsen, the company\u2019s co-founder and former CEO, and Garlinghouse, after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2020-338\">alleging that they raised $1.3 billion<\/a> through the sale of XRP, an unregistered securities offering, according to the regulator.<\/p>\n<p>However, in 2023, Judge Analisa Torres found that <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/ripple-wins-sec-case-xrp-not-a-security\/\">XRP wasn\u2019t a security<\/a> when it came to sales to the public, its employees, and developers, marking a huge win against the SEC. Yet, direct sales to institutional investors, Torres found that these sales were securities.
