They could also freeze or withdraw non-fraud litigation. Many defendants argue that cryptocurrencies are more like commodities rather than securities; however, it\u2019s unclear when SEC rules apply.<\/p>\n<p>Both are crypto enthusiasts who have <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/senior-sec-commissioner-warns-against-strict-crypto-rules\/\">voiced their concerns over strict crypto rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Peirce and Uyeda, crypto-friendly Paul Atkins has been selected as the next <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-selects-pro-crypto-paul-atkins-to-be-the-next-us-sec-chair\/\">SEC Chair<\/a>. Current Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Gary+Gensler\">Gary Gensler<\/a> will <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/sec-chair-gensler-to-depart-agency-on-january-20\/\">step down on January 20,<\/a> the day Trump is sworn in. Atkins, who served as an SEC commissioner under President George W. Bush, has been an outspoken advocate for the crypto industry.<\/p>\n<p>The selection of Atkins comes as Trump aims to provide clearer guidelines for the crypto market, which has long been frustrated by Gensler\u2019s approach.
