It could also create a crypto advisory council, reports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-01-16\/trump-plans-to-designate-cryptocurrency-as-a-national-priority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An earlier report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2025\/01\/13\/andreessen-tech-industry-trump-administration-doge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a> suggests <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/donald+trump\">Trump<\/a> is expected to sign executive orders \u2013 on the first day of his presidency \u2013 focusing on crypto de-banking and the repeal of crypto accounting policies requiring banks holding digital assets to count them as liabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20, has enjoyed strong support from the crypto industry. During his campaign trail, he promised to make the US the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-unveils-plan-to-make-usa-the-crypto-capital-of-the-planet\/\">crypto capital<\/a>\u201d of the world, and was the recipient of a <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-receives-2m-bitcoin-donation-from-winklevoss-twins\/\">$2 million Bitcoin donation<\/a> from Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss and a <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-gets-1m-ethereum-donation-from-kraken-co-founder\/\">$1 million Ethereum donation<\/a> from Jesse Powell, co-founder of Kraken.<\/p>\n<p>Since <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/bitcoin-breaks-75k-as-crypto-celebrates-donald-trump-election-win\/\">winning the US election<\/a> in November, the crypto market has rallied with Bitcoin hitting a new all-time high of over $108,000.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has also selected several pro-crypto candidates within his incoming administration, including <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-names-david-sacks-as-ai-and-crypto-czar\/\">crypto czar David Sacks<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/trump-names-bo-hines-as-executive-director-of-the-crypto-council\/\">Bo Hines<\/a> as executive director of the Presidential Council of Advisers for Digital Assets, and <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-selects-pro-crypto-paul-atkins-to-be-the-next-us-sec-chair\/\">Paul Atkins<\/a> as the next US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Republican commissioners at the SEC indicated they were <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/us-sec-set-to-revamp-crypto-policies-under-trump-leadership\/\">set to revise the agency\u2019s crypto policies<\/a> as Trump prepares to enter the White House next week.<\/p>\n<h2>Pushing American tech<\/h2>\n<p>Despite facing regulatory hurdles, the crypto market has also seen positive growth under President Joe Biden\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of 2024, for instance, the <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/us-sec-approves-eleven-spot-bitcoin-etfs-as-memeinators-presale-approaches-3-5m\/\">SEC approved the first US spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs)<\/a>, which have since expanded the market. <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/BlackRock\">BlackRock\u2019s<\/a> IBIT Bitcoin ETF currently accounts for more than 559,000 Bitcoin, valued at $56.2 billion, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ishares.com\/us\/products\/333011\/ishares-bitcoin-trust-etf\">iShares data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, with the new incoming administration, Trump is keen to push American technology companies to the front.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on this, Kara Calvert, vice-president for US policy at Coinbase Global, said: \u201cWhat I think Donald Trump is going to do is signal that the United States is back and we are ready to lead in this industry.
