The US Supreme Court has upheld the law mandating China-based ByteDance to divest its ownership of TikTok by Sunday, or face an effective ban of the popular video-sharing app in the United States. <\/p>\n

The ruling underscores growing national security concerns tied to TikTok\u2019s data collection practices and alleged links to the Chinese government, placing the platform\u2019s 170 million American users at risk of losing access.<\/p>\n

The decision supports the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in April 2024. <\/p>\n

The court\u2019s unanimous opinion stressed that TikTok\u2019s massive data collection and susceptibility to foreign influence pose significant threats to US security. <\/p>\n
