Thank you for keeping your word to me and others who have been advocating for Ross\u2019 freedom, Mr. President! #freeRoss\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the family\u2019s Free Ross campaign account on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Free_Ross\/status\/1881851923005165704\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X<\/a>, it said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoss was just granted a FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL PARDON by @realDonaldTrump. Words cannot express how grateful we are. President Trump is a man of his word and he just saved Ross\u2019s life. ROSS IS A FREE MAN!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Free_Ross (@Free_Ross) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Free_Ross\/status\/1881851923005165704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 21, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Making promises<\/h2>\n<p>During Trump\u2019s election campaign, he promised that <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/trump-promises-to-free-silk-road-creator-ross-ulbricht-if-re-elected\/\">he would release Ulbricht on day one<\/a> if he was re-elected to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>When it didn\u2019t happen on day one, some Bitcoiners expressed their frustration, stating that he wasn\u2019t a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MartyMcBitcoin\/status\/1881713581458350125\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">man of his word<\/a>.\u201d US Senator Rand Paul even <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenRandPaul\/status\/1881825358166827433\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> Trump a letter urging him to pardon Ulbricht, several hours before the president announced the pardon.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m sending <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a> a letter today asking him to do the right thing and free <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealRossU?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RealRossU<\/a>! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yrc3zPx9Nt\">pic.twitter.com\/yrc3zPx9Nt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senator Rand Paul (@SenRandPaul) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenRandPaul\/status\/1881825358166827433?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 21, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ulbricht created Silk Road in 2011 and operated the darknet marketplace that aided the sale of illegal services and products using <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Bitcoin\">Bitcoin<\/a> until his arrest in 2013 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Ulbricht was found guilty of charges including conspiracy to commit drug trafficking, money laundering, and computer hacking.
