One of the most well-known and reliable cryptocurrency exchanges, Kraken, has made its onchain staking product available to customers in 39 states and territories in the United States. Through this new option, qualified clients can take part in staking and receive rewards while helping to secure blockchain networks. According to Kraken, as regulations permit, it intends to make this service available in additional states.<\/p>\n

A Secure and Simple Staking Solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Beginning today, U.S. clients in eligible states can stake selected tokens via Kraken Pro. This product offers bonded staking, where clients lock up their crypto assets for a specified period. Kraken then delegates the staked assets to validators who validate transactions and produce blocks. In return, clients receive rewards, minus any associated fees, from the validators.<\/p>\n

Mark Greenberg, Kraken\u2019s Global Head of Consumer, highlighted the significance of this launch, saying, \u201cLaunching this new staking product in the US is an overwhelmingly positive development, not just for Kraken but also for the entire US crypto space.\u201d<\/em> Greenberg also added, \u201cWe are excited to bring back a brand new product enabling US clients to resume staking with Kraken, and playing a significant role in bolstering the underlying security of blockchain networks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Kraken\u2019s entry into the staking market began in 2019 when it became the first major centralized exchange to offer onchain staking. The platform has since continued to innovate, including launching support for restaking Ethereum (ETH)<\/a> in 2024, allowing projects on EigenLayer to benefit from Ethereum\u2019s robust security.<\/p>\n

Proof-of-stake (PoS) has emerged as one of the most widely used consensus mechanisms in the crypto space, with staking services growing rapidly as more blockchain networks adopt this model. Kraken\u2019s new onchain staking offering for U.S. clients helps bridge the gap between services available in the U.S. and Kraken\u2019s international offerings.<\/p>\n
