His comments come as US President <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/search\/Donald+Trump\">Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> administration has laid off or put staff on leave.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a lot of sympathy for gov\u2019t employees: I, too, have not checked my email for the past few (hundred) days. And I can confirm that being unemployed is a lot less relaxing than it looks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/bankman-fried-sentenced-to-25-years-in-prison\/\">sentenced to 25 years<\/a> in prison last March for his involvement in the FTX collapse, went on to say that firing people is one of the hardest things in the world. In his experience, it\u2019s usually not the employee\u2019s fault that they were fired, but it\u2019s often the best path to take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d tell this to everyone we let go: that it was as much our fault for not having the right role for them, or the right person to manage them, or the right work environment for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">4) I\u2019d tell this to everyone we let go: that it was as much our fault for not having the right role for them, or the right person to manage them, or the right work environment for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 SBF (@SBF_FTX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SBF_FTX\/status\/1894204093851164713?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 25, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2>Seeking a presidential pardon<\/h2>\n<p>Bankman-Fried\u2019s posts come as his parents are seeking to get their son a <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/sam-bankman-frieds-parents-are-seeking-a-presidential-pardon-from-trump\/\">presidential pardon from Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In January, it was reported that Stanford law professors Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried had met with lawyers and members of Trump\u2019s administration. The pair are hoping to receive clemency for Bankman-Fried.<\/p>\n<p>Given Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/donald-trump-signs-order-pardons-silk-road-creator-ross-ulbricht\/\">pardoning of Silk Road creator Ross Ulbricht<\/a> \u2013 who served 12 years in prison \u2013 several days after entering the White House, Bankman-Fried\u2019s parents are hoping for similar success.<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried previously called his sentence \u201cdraconian\u201d despite FTX customers having recovered most of their money. In December, it was reported that the crypto exchange would <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/ftx-to-begin-customer-repayments-in-early-2025\/\">begin repaying customers in early January<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gary Wang, FTX co-founder, <a href=\"https:\/\/coinjournal.net\/news\/ftx-co-founder-gary-wang-avoids-prison-time-in-crypto-fraud-case\/\">avoided a prison sentence<\/a> in November with Judge Lewis Kaplan sentencing him to time served.
